Not merely because we grieve for the loss of our brave, but because so much of that grief was created outside of the interests of our national security and personal liberties.
Everyone who writes a blank check payable up to the cost of their lives to Our Government is the Epitome of human greatness and part of the very foundation upon which civilization rests. They do so not merely because they want the pitifully inept benefits our government wagers against their lives, but because they want to DO something and BE more to PRESERVE or even CREATE better lives for people they don't know, might never meet, and who will likely never thank them. They do this because they know that order must be preserved for humanity to flourish.
They are heroes.
But this is a sad day when we look at all the lost and realize that not every battle, theater, or war they were sent to die in was just or even necessary. When we look at the facts, the reality and can see so very easily, if we choose not to be ignorant, that in too many cases our heroes were sent to die not in the service of the people of this nation, but for the profit of a few elite individuals and corporations.
This isn't a fucking 'theory'. It's a fact.
We OWE them the truth. We OWE those brave souls, each and every one, the absolute and sacrosanct GUARANTEE that their lives are NOT being thrown away so that a CEO can get a bigger bonus and buy a bigger yacht, or so that companies can get exclusive 'no bid' contracts to 'service' the war zone for more taxpayer dollars. NO! And FUCK NO! They deserve better than to get blown to pieces so that all the corporations that made RECORD profits from getting wars started can continue to thrive.
This Memorial day, don't think only of how they sacrificed, how they died, or how they fought.... think of how we can stop them from being fed into wars that have NOTHING to do with our 'freedoms' and everything to do with Greed.
That is the VERY least we owe those who sign their lives away in the hopes it will be for protecting the People of the United States of America.
